Evidence Provenance Contracts: Closing the Loop on Advice Source Integrity

Today, the Helpifyr stack gains a concrete guarantee that every piece of advice and follow-up is anchored to its original evidence, with immutable contracts tracking source and provenance from Loom extraction through to final attestation. This closes a longstanding gap in traceability and unlocks defensible, auditable decision flows for all downstream consumers.

Imagine a scenario where a user disputes a piece of advice, questioning the original document or data that triggered it. Until now, tracing the exact evidence chain-especially when advice is synthesized across multiple systems and human checkpoints-has meant piecing together logs, heuristics, and best guesses. This ambiguity not only slows down operators but undermines the reliability of automation and the confidence of external auditors. Today, that ambiguity ends: the stack now binds every advice and follow-up to explicit Loom source and evidence provenance contracts, making the evidence chain both discoverable and verifiable at every step.

Why This Day Mattered

For the first time, operators and auditors can demand not just an explanation but a cryptographically verifiable trail from advice back to the original extracted evidence. Developers building integrations, escalation paths, or compliance tooling now have a stable contract to rely on, eliminating the need for custom patchwork solutions to reconstruct provenance. For end users, this translates to faster, more defensible resolutions in edge cases where the origin of a recommendation is questioned.

The closed UTC day 2026-08-06 resolved into 53 merged PRs across 8 repos, led by helpifyr-boost-advice-followup (18), helpifyr-partner-customer-portal (13), jhf-loom (9).

What Actually Changed

The platform now materializes Loom source and evidence provenance contracts at the advice and follow-up layer. These contracts are not mere metadata-they define a schema and enforce binding at the domain level, ensuring that every advice instance carries immutable references to its source evidence as extracted by Loom. This is enforced both at the contract interface and in the event stream, so downstream consumers and operators receive provenance as a first-class field, not an afterthought. The system also carries forward this evidence in exit reports and attestation flows, ensuring that provenance is preserved even as advice moves through state transitions or delegation chains.

Why It Holds Better Now

By elevating evidence provenance to a contractually enforced field, we eliminate the class of bugs and ambiguities where advice could be orphaned from its source or modified without trace. This also enables automated audits and downstream policy enforcement, since provenance is guaranteed to be present, immutable, and discoverable. The mechanism is extensible: as Loom evolves or new extraction sources are added, the same provenance contract applies, future-proofing both the schema and the operational guarantees.
