Live Reality Checks: Calendar TTLs Give Way to Source-Attested Evidence Across the Stack
Today, the Helpifyr platform replaced a swath of calendar-based TTLs with live, source-of-truth evidence checks, eliminating silent staleness and unlocking real-time contract enforcement for both operators and developers.

Imagine a critical contract or configuration silently going stale because a background timer expired, not because the underlying source changed. Operators are left guessing whether the system’s current state is truly valid, and developers must code around uncertain evidence. This kind of calendar-based TTL logic has been a friction point: it works until it doesn’t, and when it fails, it fails quietly. Today, that changes. The platform now cross-references live source control state and manifest reality, ensuring that what’s enforced is what’s actually present-no more silent staleness, no more guessing.
01Why it matters
Why This Day Mattered
By tying contract validity and evidence checks directly to the live state of source repositories and manifests, the platform eliminates a longstanding blind spot: silent contract expiry due to calendar timeouts. Operators now get immediate, actionable evidence if a contract or manifest is out of sync with its source, while developers can rely on contracts being enforced only as long as the real, auditable source supports them. This closes the gap between configuration intent and runtime enforcement, making every approval and deployment safer and more predictable for users and operators alike.
The closed UTC day 2026-07-29 resolved into 111 merged PRs across 17 repos, led by helpifyr-fabric (40), jhf-bobbin (12), jhf-weaver (9).
02What changed
What Actually Changed
A series of key contract and evidence validation flows, including weaver-canary, landscape/roadmap, and bundle-license, were refactored to replace calendar-based TTLs with live checks against the canonical Gitea SHA or manifest state. Instead of expiring based on elapsed time, these contracts now perform a real-time comparison with the current source, only marking themselves stale if the underlying reference is actually out of date. This shifts the platform from a timer-driven to a source-attested model, with validation logic that inspects the real, authoritative state before allowing or denying operations.
03Why it holds better now
Why It Holds Better Now
Calendar TTLs can only approximate the freshness of a contract or manifest-they cannot guarantee that what’s enforced matches what’s current. By interrogating the live source state, the new mechanism ensures that evidence, approvals, and contract gates are always grounded in actual, up-to-date reality. This removes the risk of silent drift, eliminates the need for manual or periodic renewal, and makes contract enforcement both stricter and more transparent. Developers and operators can now trust that the platform’s decisions are driven by the real state, not by an arbitrary timer.

Fail-Closed Capture Boundaries: Immutable Evidence for Customer Profile Integrity
Today, the Helpifyr / JaddaHelpifyr stack crossed a threshold in customer profile integrity by enforcing fail-closed, repo-bound evidence capture at every critical boundary. This shift locks in both the inputs and the causal chain for customer state transitions, making drift, ambiguous custody, and silent misattribution impossible. Operators, developers, and downstream adapters now have a single, immutable source of truth: every profile event is now cryptographically attested, causally traceable, and verifiable against the exact source tree and admission gate that authorized it.

Fail-Closed Evidence and Deterministic Bundle Materialization: Raising the Floor for Customer Profile Integrity
Today’s work delivers a new baseline for customer bundle handling in Helpifyr/JaddaHelpifyr: evidence is now fail-closed, bundle candidates are deterministically materialized, and profile manifests are versioned and contract-bound. This unlocks safer upgrades, cuts ambiguity in runtime validation, and empowers operators to reason about customer state transitions with confidence.

Sealing the Evidence: Immutable Readbacks and Controlled Boundaries for Plan 28.2 and Beyond
Today's engineering work delivers a tangible advance in the reliability and auditability of authority evidence for critical insurance plan operations. By introducing sealed inventory readbacks, explicit migration cutover evidence, and hardened schemas for external approval, the Helpifyr/JaddaHelpifyr stack now guarantees that what operators and auditors see is not just the current state, but a cryptographically and contractually bound snapshot of how it got there.
